How to use PlumbingISO

Click or tap outside this How-to window, press Escape, or choose Close to dismiss it.

Choose Waterline in Tools, then use Waterline type beneath it to choose Hot (red), Cold (blue), or Recirc (orange). Cold is the initial default. Click or tap at the start, hold, drag, and release just as with Drain and Vent; the same X, Y, Z and diagonal drawing controls apply. Click or tap Waterline again to return to Select. Select a waterline to change its Waterline type in Properties. The type and color are saved with the drawing and included in exports. A custom pipe color overrides the type color; Use system color restores red, blue, or orange. Existing water-supply lines without a type are treated as Cold.

Pipe size choices follow the selected system. Waterlines offer ½″, ¾″, 1″, 1¼″, 1½″, 2″, 2½″, 3″, and 4″. Drain and vent offer 1″, 1½″, 2″, 3″, 4″, 6″, 8″, 10″, and 12″. Use Pipe size in Drawing properties for new lines or in a selected line's Properties to change it. Multi-select size changes offer only sizes valid for every selected pipe; select waterlines separately for their smaller fractional sizes. Switching to drain or vent keeps a valid size, or uses 3″ if the old size is unavailable. Switching to Waterline restores its last chosen size for this session, initially ½″.

Waterlines start at ½″ when you open the app. Choosing a size for new waterlines, a selected waterline, or multiple selected waterlines makes that the size for subsequent waterlines during the current app session, including after switching tools. Hot, Cold, and Recirc share this size setting. Change Pipe size again whenever needed. Existing lines are not resized automatically.

Waterline labels are off by default. Select a waterline, then click or tap Show waterline label in Properties to show Cold, Hot, or Recirc centered directly over the pipe. Multi-select can turn labels on or off for several waterlines together; other selected pipes and fixtures are unchanged. This label is separate from the pipe size and keeps any custom identifier. Changing the waterline type updates its label automatically. Label visibility saves with the drawing, appears in exports, and supports Undo.

Trench drains stay flat in the horizontal XY plane by default at their connection elevation. Trench direction (around Z) turns the drain in that plane: 0° follows X and 90° follows Y. Use Trench tilt (around X) to tilt it from −90° to 90°; 0° keeps it flat. Direction is applied first, then tilt around the world X axis. The camera view also affects its appearance. Use the dropdown or Left / Right 45° controls with mouse or touch, and click or tap the tilt field to enter an angle.

Select a water heater, tankless water heater, sewage ejector, sump pump, or grease interceptor, then click or tap Equipment size (%) in Properties to set its size from 100% to 250%. This changes the symbol and its stub positions, not its center location, label size, or physical capacity. Size and tilt are saved with the drawing and can be undone.

Length controls appear only for trench drains and grease interceptors. X-axis tilt controls appear only for those items, floor sinks, and hub drains. Equipment size appears only for the five equipment types listed above; select one item at a time to adjust it. Grease interceptors sit flat by default and have the same length, direction around Z, and tilt around X controls as trench drains, plus equipment size. Floor sinks and hub drains also sit flat with direction around Z and tilt around X, but no length adjustment.

Equipment connection stubs can be used to start or finish a pipe: click or tap and hold at a stub tip, drag, then release. Sump pumps and sewage ejectors have two top connections and one on each side. Water heaters have three top connections and two on each side. Tankless water heaters have five bottom connections. Grease interceptors have one connection at each end. Connections follow the equipment size and orientation; finish sizing and orienting before connecting pipes, since changing these settings does not move existing pipes.

Water heaters, tankless water heaters, sump pumps, and sewage ejectors stay view-facing as you rotate or tilt the camera, so their shapes do not turn edge-on. Their rotation dropdown and Left / Right 45° buttons still turn the symbol manually. The connection tips remain anchored in the drawing; short connection lines link them to the view-facing symbol. Trench drains, grease interceptors, floor sinks, and hub drains keep their flat, camera-projected placement instead.

Sewage ejector (SE) and sump pump (SP) use the same tapered basin shape: the sewage ejector is solid dark gray, and the sump pump is light. Their fixture-list icons match; identifiers distinguish them in the drawing.

In More fixtures, Washing machine box is next to Washing machine standpipe. It places a P-trap with a small box at the upper end and supports the same direction, label, selection, and saving controls. The fixture list and assigned toolbar slots show matching heater, sewage-ejector, trench-drain, and washing-machine-box icons. The sewage-ejector symbol is taller with a gentler taper. Click or tap a fixture to place it.

Select a trench drain, heater, sewage ejector, drain, fixture, fitting, or symbol and use its rotation dropdown or Left / Right 45° buttons. The symbol turns around its connection point while the identifier stays upright. P-traps retain their 3D direction controls; Tie to existing arrows retain their connection-based direction and Reverse arrow direction control.

Optional pop-up windows close with their X button, Close button, Escape, or a click or tap outside. Starting a drag inside and releasing outside does not close the window. Required sign-in, consent, device-rotation, and drawing-lock screens cannot be dismissed to bypass their checks. Browser-native prompts follow your browser controls.

Water heaters use a tall tank-shaped symbol, and tankless water heaters use a tall cabinet-shaped symbol, roughly twice the previous equipment-box height. Sewage ejectors use a tapered cup-shaped basin symbol. Place and select these fixtures with a mouse click or touch tap; their identifiers and connection points work as before. These are schematic symbols, not measured equipment dimensions.

Select a trench drain with a mouse click or touch tap, then adjust Trench drain length (× width) in its properties from 1 to 12 to make its symbol longer without changing its width or connection point. New trench drains start at 3× width; existing drawings keep their original proportions until adjusted. This is a drafting proportion, not a measured pipe length. Changes can be undone and are retained in saved drawings and exports.

The top drawing actions are ordered: invitation envelope (only when an invitation is pending), New drawing, Open File, Export, then Help. Click or tap the action you need.

Open File → Recover cached drawing appears only when this device has a usable older browser-only drawing. It imports that copy into your signed-in workspace after any unsaved-change confirmation; it does not upload it. Signed-in drawing recovery remains automatic and separate for each account. If internet is lost and device storage succeeds, the status reads Offline — changes kept on this device; not saved to Drive. Editing may pause when access or file locks cannot be verified. Full offline use and reopening the app offline are not guaranteed. Keep the page open and save to Drive after reconnecting; clearing browser data can remove cached copies.

Subscription actions use matching dark-blue buttons with white text; unavailable actions are dimmed. Click or tap Manage subscription, Manage team, Submit, or Refresh status as needed.

In Subscription, the active plan button reads Subscribed and stays disabled. Accepted members with active company access also see Subscribed on the Team plan. Complimentary access alone is not shown as a paid subscription.

Zoom out to 10% on any device using the zoom − button, mouse wheel, or a two-finger pinch. Zooming in still reaches 220%.

The XYZ coordinate readout stays behind the properties panel and pop-ups, so it cannot cover or intercept clicks or taps on controls such as Delete and Duplicate.

Undo and Redo stay in a fixed lower-right position. On tablets and phones, they share the bottom row with Pan and Rotate / Tilt, immediately to the left of those controls. On PC, they remain above the navigation row. Space is reserved for expanded Properties. Their position does not change when coordinates change or Properties opens and closes. Click or tap either button; Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y also work on a keyboard.

The Properties header matches the height of the drawing control bar beside it, including when the controls wrap or the screen size changes. Click or tap Properties to open or collapse the panel.

Opening or renewing a Drive drawing's editing lock requires verified Google Drive edit permission for the same Google account signed into the app. View-only files cannot be edited. If permission is removed or cannot be verified, editing pauses and your browser recovery is kept. Reconnect Google Drive or reopen the drawing after access is restored.

If Drive upload succeeds but the editing lock cannot be verified, the app still remembers the saved file and reports that only editing verification failed. Refresh and reconnect before resuming editing. Retrying Save changes updates that file rather than creating another copy; Save New intentionally creates a separate file.

Pipe size appears only for drawn pipe, vent, and waterline segments—not fixtures, fittings, symbols, or text labels. When multiple items are selected, Size of selected pipes changes only the selected pipe segments.

Help → Subscription is the single entry for individual billing, access codes, and company teams. Choose Individual subscribe or Team subscribe. After a team subscription is confirmed, choose Create company, then use Manage team for members. Invited users can open View team invitation. Billing is still test-only.

Draw pipes and vents

Choose Drain for sanitary drain or Vent for vent piping. Click or tap at your starting point, then hold, drag to preview the line, and release to place it. Keep the left mouse button down or your finger on the touchscreen while holding and dragging. A quick mouse click alone does not place a pipe. Upward direction snapping stays vertical through small sideways pointer or finger movements, so the UP indicator does not flicker to diagonal. When connecting vertically aligned pipes, upward and downward runs stay exactly plumb and snap to the aligned intersection, not a nearby off-axis point. This applies to mouse and touch. Move clearly away from vertical to choose another direction.

Start at an existing endpoint to connect a run; an orange dot indicates a connection. Direction colors are red for X, green for Y, blue for Z, and purple for a diagonal. Vent height guides indicate nearby matching elevations. Change the default pipe size in Drawing properties before drawing.

Select and edit

Select is the default editing tool. Clicking an active Drain, Vent, or Erase button again returns to Select; clicking Select again keeps it enabled. Move the regular arrow over an item to preview it in orange, then click or tap to select it and open its properties. A selected item stays orange after the pointer moves away.

The Multi-select toggle is immediately to the left of Select, with (hold Shift) beneath it as a shortcut reminder. Holding Shift switches the toggle on; releasing Shift switches it off without clearing the selected items. You can also turn the toggle on manually. Enable it to add or remove pipes, fixtures, and labels from a group; on a computer you can also Shift-click or Ctrl-click. The properties panel offers Size of selected pipes to change every selected pipe's diameter at once. Fixtures and unselected pipes are unchanged.

Show pipe sizes controls the size labels for selected pipes. Sections shorter than one drawing unit hide their size automatically; select the section and check Show pipe sizes to force the label on. Uncheck it to hide a label manually. Duplicate copies the selected branch; drag an orange selected item to move it. Drag direction chooses movement across XY or vertically along Z. Delete removes selected items. Undo restores the previous change.

Place fixtures and labels

Water closets, cleanouts, and similar fixtures use a compact crossbar marking; its stroke follows Line thickness. Choose a fixture from Components or More fixtures, or a symbol from Symbols, then click or tap its location. Place a fixture at a pipe endpoint to connect it. Select the item to change its identifier or direction where available. Label position offers Above, Below, Left, and Right; Automatic restores its original placement. This moves only the text, not the item itself.

Choose Label to add a drawing note. Choose Erase to remove individual items; click Erase again to return to Select.

Erase shows a small angled-pencil cursor. Hover over a pipe, fixture, symbol, or label to preview the item in red, then click to erase that item. With touch, tap the item to erase it; there is no mouse hover preview. Undo restores an accidental deletion. Select continues to use an orange preview.

Move the view

Use the zoom − / + controls or the mouse wheel. Choose Pan or Rotate / Tilt, then drag to adjust the view; choose the same navigation button again or a drawing tool to resume editing. Rotate / Tilt shows a rotation-arrow cursor. With touch, use two fingers to pan and pinch to zoom; a second finger cancels a pipe in progress.

Mouse shortcuts: hold Space or Alt while dragging to pan, or hold R while dragging to rotate and tilt. Middle- or right-button dragging also pans. D selects Drain, V selects Vent, S selects Select, E selects Erase, and T selects Label. Escape cancels the current pipe and returns to Select. Ctrl+Z undoes; Ctrl+Y redoes.

Change text appearance

At the bottom of Tools, open Text & lines for the compact text-size and line-thickness controls. Use the + / − beside Text & lines to expand or collapse both together, just like Symbols. Text size − / + makes pipe sizes, fixture labels, and drawing notes smaller or larger, from 50% to 200%. New drawings start at 100% with Bold on. Bold turns bold lettering on or off.

Line thickness − / + sits below Text size and adjusts pipe strokes from 50% to 200%, starting at the thinner 100% default. It changes their visual weight, not their actual pipe diameter. Both appearance settings save with the drawing, carry through to exports, and can be undone.

Save, open, and export

Log in with Google. Save to Drive creates a file or updates the open file; Save New makes a separate copy. Open File lets you open a Drive drawing or an editable CPS file. Export offers an editable CPS drawing or PDF; saving and exporting require full access. The monthly subscription is $12.99 USD, including applicable tax; current checkout is test-only.

Browser recovery is a safety copy, not a substitute for saving to Drive. Only one session can edit a Drive file at a time. If editing pauses because the lock or connection cannot be verified, reopen from Drive or keep your changes as a separate drawing.

Use an access code

If you were given a code, open Help → Subscription. Enter it in the blank box beside Manage subscription and click Submit. A successful code confirms when access ends. An already-used code shows a message; other unsuccessful entries stay silent. Click outside the subscription window or choose Close to dismiss it.

Company teams

Open Help → Subscription. Choose Individual subscribe ($12.99/month) or Team subscribe ($40/month for the owner plus four members); prices include applicable tax and checkout is test-only. After the team subscription is confirmed, choose Create company to finish setup without another charge. Manage team appears after company setup and a team subscription. Existing companies and subscriptions are kept.

Owners invite members by their exact Google email. Invitations reserve seats and do not send email automatically. Signed-in users without full access check for invitations on sign-in and about every three minutes while the app is visible. A red envelope with an exclamation mark appears to the left of New drawing only when a pending invitation is confirmed. Click or tap it to view and accept or decline the invitation, or use Subscription → View team invitation. It disappears after acceptance or decline, or after a canceled invitation is detected on the next check. No invitation means no notification icon.

Personal subscriptions must end before purchasing a team plan or accepting a company invitation. Remove members or cancel invitations to free seats; accepted members can leave through Team membership. Owner plan changes and ownership transfers require support. Google sign-in testing restrictions still apply. Membership changes require recent sign-in, and inviting or accepting members requires an active team subscription.

Share Drive files or folders separately in Google Drive; shared-folder saving and automatic shared-file discovery are not included. Removing a member does not revoke Drive permissions. Only one session can edit a Drive drawing at a time. Company access rechecks about once a minute while connected. Losing access keeps drawings. Click or tap outside the team window, press Escape, or choose Close to dismiss it.

Verify the signed-in account, then email support using the provided link; this is a reviewed request, not immediate deletion or subscription cancellation.

Frequently asked questions

What is PlumbingISO for?

Create plumbing isometric drawings that explain pipe runs, vents, fixtures, and connections. Drawings are drafting aids, not automatic plumbing designs, code checks, or guarantees of permit approval. Confirm local requirements and have the design reviewed by an appropriately qualified professional where needed.

How do I draw a pipe or vent?

Choose Drain or Vent. Click or tap at your starting point, then hold, drag, and release to place the pipe or vent. Keep the left mouse button down or your finger on the touchscreen while holding and dragging. A quick mouse click alone does not place a pipe. Start at an existing endpoint to connect a run. See Help → How to for the complete controls and shortcuts.

How do I select several items or change their pipe sizes?

Select is the default when a drawing tool is not active. Turn on Multi-select beside Select, or hold Shift on a keyboard, and select the items. Releasing Shift turns the toggle off without clearing your selection. Use Size of selected pipes in the properties panel to change the selected pipes together.

Why is a pipe-size label missing, and can I change the text or line thickness?

Very short pipe sections hide their size automatically. Select the section and enable Show pipe sizes to display it. Text & lines at the bottom of Tools adjusts drawing text size, Bold, and line thickness. Select a fixture or symbol to move its label above, below, left, or right.

What does free access include?

Free accounts have 15 lifetime pipe sections, including sections created by splits. Deleting pipes or starting another drawing does not restore that allowance. Saving and exporting require full access.

Can my company buy access for five people?

Yes. In Help → Subscription, choose Team subscribe for $40 USD/month including applicable tax (test-only). After checkout confirms an active team subscription, choose Create company, then Manage team to invite up to four other users. Each person uses their own Google login. Invitations reserve seats; no invitation emails are sent automatically. Personal subscriptions are not automatically canceled, refunded, or switched. Owner plan changes and ownership transfers require support.

Users without full access check for invitations on sign-in and about every three minutes while the app is visible. A red envelope with an exclamation mark to the left of New drawing appears only for a confirmed pending invitation. Click it to accept or decline. You can also use Subscription → View team invitation. Acceptance clears it immediately; a canceled invitation clears on the next check.

Membership does not change Google Drive permissions or create shared company storage. Manage Drive sharing separately. Removing a member ends company-provided app access after verification, normally within about a minute while connected, without deleting drawings.

How much does a subscription cost? Are payments real yet?

The monthly price is $12.99 USD, including applicable tax. Full access includes unlimited drawing sections, saving, and exporting. Current checkout is a test sandbox: use Stripe test payment details only; no real payment is taken. Tax collection and live billing are not enabled.

How do I use an access code?

Open Help → Subscription, enter your code in the blank box beside Manage subscription, and choose Submit. A successful code confirms the access end date. Codes are single-use; an already-used code shows a message, while other unsuccessful entries stay silent. Temporary access ends at the confirmed time.

Where are my drawings saved, and which file should I share?

Save to Drive saves to the connected Google account. Save New creates a separate copy. Export a PDF for viewing or printing, or an editable CPS drawing to reopen and continue working. Browser recovery is only a safety copy, not a replacement for saving. Keep your own backups of important drawings.

Can I use more than one device or edit the same file in two windows?

The default allowance is one active app session. If your account has additional sessions enabled, they can work on different drawings, but only one session can edit a particular Drive drawing at a time. Contact support if you need a different session allowance.

Why does the app say drawing editing is paused?

The Drive file may be open elsewhere, or the app cannot verify its editing lock because of a connection problem. Your current changes are kept in the open drawing. Close the other editing session and reopen from Drive, or choose Keep changes as a separate drawing to avoid overwriting the original. A closed session's lock can take about a minute to expire.

How do I cancel, and what happens if payment fails?

Use Help → Subscription → Manage subscription to cancel renewal. Cancellation normally keeps access through the paid-through date. A failed renewal removes paid access until payment is resolved, without deleting the existing drawing. After resolving payment, choose Refresh status or sign in again.

Can I get a refund?

The current draft policy does not provide a general refund window for payments or unused subscription time. Exceptions apply to billing errors and where required by law. Current sandbox payments are not real charges. Read the cancellation and refund policy (draft).

Why can't my Google account sign in?

Google sign-in is currently in testing, so accounts may need to be added to the approved tester list. Make sure you are using the intended Google account and contact support if access is blocked. Access codes do not bypass Google sign-in restrictions.

What information does the app collect?

Google sign-in identifies your account, and Drive access is limited to files you use with this app. Required usage statistics cover visits and app actions, not drawing contents, project names, or email addresses. See Usage privacy at the bottom of the drawing and the privacy policy (draft) for details.

How do I request account deletion?

Sign in to the account you want deleted, then use the button below to verify and record a support request. After verification, email support using the provided link. This does not immediately delete data, cancel a subscription, issue a refund, or delete Google Drive files. Cancel renewal separately through Manage subscription and keep copies of any drawings you need.

If you cannot sign in, contact support for help verifying your request.

How do I get help or report a problem?

Email fourfourtydesigns+help@gmail.com. Include what you were doing, your device and browser, and a screenshot if helpful. Never send passwords, access codes, or payment-card details.
